5th May 2016 I have been asked “Do you have any resolutions to put forward so that you are fighting for a particular out come?” Yes, though I thought that it was obvious from the support that the Petition and Updates have received. That this unsuitable woman leaves St Thomas’! It is no wonder that whistleblowers (which much to my surprise I now think of myself as) find that it is necessary to go much further than they first intended. The deeper you probe, the murkier the water becomes. For example, the amount of factual evidence uncovered is a scandal, yet no action is forthcoming from the Local Authority, OFSTED, Labour Councillors, MP or Bishop of Liverpool. Our representatives have been invited more than once to support us, so far they have failed! The Civil Service competency framework is included because it clearly states that performance is measured against ‘what’ (delivery of objectives) and ‘how’ (demonstration of behaviours, competencies and values) with equal weighing that means if you deliver all your objectives but hack everyone off while you are doing it your performance will be marked down. Knowingly, deliberately and with malice of forethought – Malice Aforethought – Mrs Brindle has hacked many people off, some with very serious consequences for the individuals involved who were unfortunate enough to cross her path, and yet the powers that be have never even raised an objection or enquiry. Incompetence within the Local Authority and OFSTED – Where was Due Diligence used in their haste to strip Mrs Angela Walker of an OFSTED rating of Good built up over many, many years? Mrs Walker says that after a visit from an OFSTED official she was informed that her OFSTED rating was being downgraded to inadequate. Mrs Walker explained to the OFSTED official that Mrs Brindle had banned the children from making use of both the council constructed play area and classroom, even though they were vacant and unoccupied by other children. As far as Mrs Walker understands, this official never approached Mrs Brindle about her depriving the nursery children of their normal, designated accommodation. Due Diligence does not appear to apply to OFSTED’s incompetence or Mrs Brindle’s law breaking. The result was that Mrs Walker and her staff have lost their livelihood and Golborne has lost a nursery it can ill afford to lose! I draw a simple analogy between my own my own experience of Trade Unionism as practiced at David Brown Tractors, Leigh, some years ago. Our strength as shop stewards lay in Strong Leadership and Unity. The convenor was no good on his own nor was an individual shop steward, but together, convenor supporting his individual shop stewards who grew in confidence and the stop stewards supporting the convenor – we were invincible! The Hierarchy in the Wigan Labour Group are too busy belonging to committees and attending meetings, to support individual councillors representing their constituents, therefore, through no fault of their own, individual councillors are ineffective. The Labour Group of Councillors does not have leaders, but controllers. Wigan Labour Councillors are more frightened of being Deselected than they are of being voted out of office. Therefore their allegiance is to the party and not to their electorate. The so-called ‘Cabinet’ are elected councillors, the same as individual councillors, and should act accordingly.
