Save NC jobs and millions in revenue - Repeal North Carolina sales tax on labor.

The Issue

The recently enacted North Carolina labor sales taxation on installations, maintenance, and repair services will drive millions in revenue, hundreds of businesses, and thousands of jobs out of the state!

Effective March 1st, 2016, the North Carolina state government expanded sales taxation to include labor services. This new taxation is already impacting many North Carolina businesses and not in a positive way. For the aviation industry, imposing sales taxes on installation, maintenance and repair services is detrimental.

Recently South Carolina passed a sales tax exemption on aircraft parts. Thus Boeing, the world's largest aerospace company, will attract maintenance contracts and jobs from North Carolina to South Carolina. North Carolina aviation companies that provide aircraft maintenance services for large companies such as United Airlines, American Airlines, FedEx, and others will loose business to less costly out-of-state aviation maintenance firms where labor services are not taxed.

Small aviation businesses are already experiencing lost business to other states where labor is not taxed. If this policy is not reversed the loss of these maintenance contracts will cost North Carolina millions in revenue and put in jeopardy thousands of aviation jobs instead of generating needed revenues.

Service businesses located close to the NC state border will also be negatively effected, with many sales going to businesses just over the state boarder who aren’t forced to charge labor tax.

North Carolina's government is eliminating revenues and jobs by putting local businesses at high risk with newly imposed taxation and its unanticipated consequences.

Join this petition to have your voice heard and the labor sales tax repealed. North Carolina business should not have an added disadvantage from competitors in other states.
