James Michael Woodard, born in 1959, is an American politician who has been serving as a member of the North Carolina Senate representing the 22nd district since 2013. A dedicated member of the Democratic Party, Woodard represents most of Durham County. Prior to his tenure in the state senate, he served as a council member on the Durham City Council. Woodard is an alumnus of Duke University, where he earned his bachelor's degree. He completed his high school education at Ralph L. Fike High School. His extensive experience in public service and his commitment to his constituents have made him a significant figure in North Carolina's political landscape.
