I wish to petition in respect of over charging of rents by private landlords in Multi occupancy housing. Specifically I’m petitioning for a cap on rent prices in such properties, a limit on the number of people that can be accommodated in such houses, and a regime of independent checks on these properties.                              By way of example a 3 bedrooms house may be repurposed to accommodate 6-8 people, each person is charged rent up to £1400.00 per person per room per month, this is daylight light robbery.                              This provides the opportunity for high rental incomes for the landlords, but in a lot of areas any available housing stocks are been bought up cheaply be these landlords and converted, preventing young families the chance to buy properties and become 1st time buyers, there are very few houses left that are affordable, our grand children will be left with nothing but ruthless land lords been paid millions out of our local councils by way of paying these landlords their rents . I’m also asking you to cap multi occupancy rents, and limit numbers in these house and implement a full and proper regime of independent health and safety checks on tenants including regular mental heath checks on tenants caught up in this Ruth less activity.                                                            Thank you,  Alice Cathrine Lawrence.
