Let Oregon 17-year-olds vote in the Primaries (If they will be 18 by Nov.)

Let Oregon 17-year-olds vote in the Primaries (If they will be 18 by Nov.)
The Issue
This petition is for changing Oregon state law to allow 17 year olds to vote in the primaries if they will be 18, eligible voters, by the time of the general election.
If an Oregon citizen will turn 18 before the general presidential election, they'll be eligible to vote in it. However, they wouldn't be able to vote in the primaries to pick their top choice FOR the general elections if they're still 17 in March, which doesn't make sense. If you're going to be eligible to vote for who becomes president, you should also be able to vote for your top choice in the primaries.
21 other states, including our neighbor Washington, have signed into law permitting citizens 17 years of age vote in the primaries if they will turn 18 by election day, and it's time for Oregon to join them. Not only would it get young voters more motivated, but it would create good voting habits and encourage them to become interested in the presidential election before they turn 18, so they are ready and educated on the candidates when November rolls around.
I urge you all to sign this because our youth is excited and motivated to get involved in this election, and we need the ability to do so! If you're reading this, but not from Oregon, consider signing it and passing it on anyways, and perhaps starting a petition in your own home state if it isn't already state law there.
(States where it is already law: Alaska, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Mississippi, Nebraska, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Virginia, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia, and Wyoming)
