Petition in Support of Arthur Griffith Park FC's Use of Storage Container and Portaloo at Griffeen Valley Park (Esker Drive)

Dear Paula,

We, the undersigned members and supporters of the local community, hereby express our strong endorsement and support for Arthur Griffith Park FC's utilisation of the recently donated storage container and portaloo (portable toilet) at Griffeen Valley Park (Esker Drive). We believe that these facilities play a crucial role in enhancing the overall experience and well-being of our club members, both boys and girls, by providing them with a private and convenient space for changing and accessing restroom facilities.

Arthur Griffith Park FC has been an integral part of our community, fostering a sense of camaraderie, sportsmanship, and discipline among its members. The recent addition of the storage container and portaloo has significantly contributed to the positive environment within the club. Additionally, we would like to highlight the following benefits, including the storage of the only fully functional defibrillator within the container:

Privacy and Dignity: The provision of a storage container allows our members to change in private, ensuring that each individual, regardless of gender, has a comfortable and dignified space to prepare for and wind down after matches and training sessions.

Convenience: The portaloo (portable toilet) serves as a vital amenity, eliminating the need for our members to either return home or resort to inconvenient alternatives, such as using nearby bushes, when nature calls. This contributes to a more hygienic and pleasant environment for everyone involved.

Inclusivity: Having dedicated changing and restroom facilities is especially important for promoting inclusivity within the club. It ensures that all members, regardless of age or gender, have equal access to necessary amenities, fostering a sense of equality and unity.

Community Well-Being: A thriving local football club contributes positively to the overall well-being of the community. By supporting Arthur Griffith Park FC in utilising these facilities, we are investing in the physical and mental health of our youth and reinforcing the values of teamwork and community spirit.

Defibrillator Accessibility: The storage container houses the only fully functional defibrillator in the vicinity, ensuring rapid access to life-saving equipment during matches and training sessions. The proximity of the defibrillator to our pitches is of utmost importance, as it significantly enhances the chances of timely intervention in case of a cardiac emergency.

We, the undersigned, urge the South Dublin County Council to recognize the importance of these facilities for Arthur Griffith Park FC and its members. We kindly request that the council continues to support the club's use of the storage container and portaloo, ensuring that our community can enjoy the benefits of these amenities for years to come.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. We trust that you will consider our petition with the utmost care and appreciation for the positive impact it will have on our local community.

Sincerely,

Allan O Kearney
