Oppose the Proposed 20% Budget Cut to the San Diego Humane Society

The Issue

I am deeply concerned about the proposed 20% budget cut to the San Diego Humane Society. This budget cut equates to a shattering $3.5 million which would equate to eliminating vital services such as Humane Law Enforcement.

This is not simply a matter of animal welfare; it's also a matter of public safety. Without these funds, our city would lose the ability to respond to animal cruelty/neglect complaints and respond to wildlife in distress or stray animals.

San Diego is currently in an animal crisis. The number of stray, abused, and neglected animals is ever-increasing and cutting the Humane Society's budget would be an unbelievable step in the wrong direction. It would lead to a reduction in animal patrols, cutting of vouchers for spay/neuter services, and cease investigations into cases of cruelty.

The proposed cut in funding is not just a betrayal to the animals who depend on us, but also to the citizens who love and care for them. These animals contribute significantly to our local community and they deserve protection.

We should be increasing support for the Humane Society, not stripping it away. Our society should stand up for the innocent beings who cannot speak up for themselves. This is the time for us to fight for them, to show them that they are not alone. Please sign this petition to oppose the proposed 20% budget cut to the San Diego Humane Society.
