As a firm, closely-knit community in South Yardley, Birmingham, we, the residents of Aldershaw Road, are deeply concerned about the proposed development of a House of Multiple Occupancy (HMO). Our community is a melting pot of young and old, including many vulnerable individuals who are likely to be heavily impacted by this proposed change.

HMOs often lead to an increase in noise and nuisance, place additional burden on local resources, and can disrupt the nature of an established residential community. Furthermore, in 2019, housing charity Shelter reported HMOs can often lead to overcrowded living situations, something we deeply want to prevent for our community.

We care about maintaining our neighbourly harmony, protecting the vulnerable residents among us and cherishing the residential character of our road. Therefore, we feel compelled to stand against the HMO development on Aldershaw Road. We urge the relevant authorities to consider our fears and anxieties and side with us in opposing this development.
