Dear all,
We, as a nation, had just commemorated our 65th National Day of Independence celebrating our freedom and independence. Sadly, those sentiments do not transcend the people of Taman Maluri.
No, it is the opposite of that. It feels like we are under attack, not by outsiders, but by our own people.
We suspect that the Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) is scheming to ‘secretly’ sell off a small piece of land at Lorong Peel to build a 44-storey condominium when the initial plan promised by them was to build a public road.
When we first heard of this sudden plan more than 4 years ago, we immediately requested a thorough investigation by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). Since then, the land is now left idle with no solution behind it.
If their ‘secret’ plan were to be approved, the residents of the neighbourhoods surrounding Lorong Peel will have to suffer from worse traffic congestion, a densely overpopulated residential area, obstructed airflow for fresh air, lack of green spaces, sound pollution and the list goes on.
As for DBKL? Buckets load of profits?
So tell me, how can we shout Merdeka when our own government is oppressing us, selling off public land, and abusing their power?
We need your support for our voices to be heard once again. Help us amplify our voices to STOP this secret scheme by DBKL from happening by signing our petition!
regards,
One of our petitioners, our Taman Maluri neighbour!
