Oppose Sainsbury’s replacing all staffed tills with self checkout

The Issue

Sainsbury’s Culcheth have replaced all staffed tills with self checkout tills. This affects people with disabilities e.g. the visually impaired and others who cannot use self checkout and need help with their shopping.

This is causing major stress and anxiety to vulnerable and elderly people, some being driven to tears due to the frustration in using the self service. If this continues people will be forced to go to more expensive smaller shops who offer a counter service and this will affect their ability to afford quality food. Customers have been given no other options as to how to do their shopping.

Immediate action needs to be taken against Sainsbury’s decision to treat their customers in such a disgraceful and discriminatory manner.
