The proposal to increase the number of apartments at 6930 Ardleigh Street threatens to fundamentally alter the character of the neighborhood. Originally constructed as a duplex in 1951, this property has served as a home that maintained its historical character. Converting it into a larger multi-family dwelling will not only disrupt this harmony but also strain local resources and infrastructure. There is no information regarding increasing parking availability or garbage control to accomodate for a significantly larger dwelling. Local historic trees and pollinators will likely be removed due to increased building size and shadows will be cast on the sunny spaces. Removing this home to build apartment units would disrupt the continuity of homes built along the 6900 block of Ardleigh Street. 

The charm of our neighborhood lies in its unique blend of history and culture. Increasing the density with additional apartments could lead to overcrowding, traffic congestion, and possible strain on local utilities and public services. We value our community’s current composition, which allows for sustainable living and personal connections among residents.
