Oppose Chelmsford City Council Charges for Brown Bin Collections

Oppose Chelmsford City Council Charges for Brown Bin Collections
The Issue
The residents and community of Chelmsford City Council wish to petition and demand a new full Council meeting to discuss the imposition of charges on residents for the collection of Brown bin waste starting in March 2025.
It is without question a further reduction of choice whether a charge is imposed on households, which has been instigated by the Council without any communication to residents, and which undermines the concept of collective consultation and a reduction of the right of residents to choose if the charging of these collections is the correct democratic action to undertake.
The charges will place further demands on an already "cost of living" crisis for some, and possibly mean an increase in dumped and other illegal disposal of rubbish. The action was not fully supported by local Councillors in an open vote on the 18th December 2024 which shows that there was significant opposition to the outcomes proposed.
Now is the time to act and for residents voices to be heard, to act on the injustice and the reduction of democracy together with the right for residents to have a say how the City Council is run and the basis indiscriminate charging for this service. Thank you for signing, please ask neighbours and other residents to sign as quickly as possible.
