Traffic Lights Needed in Havelock at Hwy 7/Mary Street

Traffic Lights Needed in Havelock at Hwy 7/Mary Street
The Issue
On Monday, Sept. 20, there was a fiery crash on Highway 7 at County Road 30 in Havelock that took a life and this wasn’t the first time there’s been an accident in this location.
“OPP say a passenger vehicle was stopped behind a commercial motor vehicle at the traffic lights at Highway 7 and County Road 30 when they were struck from behind by a tractor trailer.”
There have been numerous accidents on Hwy 7 going through Havelock due to vehicles not slowing down when heading west, you can sit on Mary Street for quite a while before your able to turn onto Hwy 7 due to the amount of traffic travelling through our town. When the Havelock Jamboree is happening traffic is five times worse. I’ve heard a lot of people say over many years why hadn’t traffic lights been installed at the east end of town?
It’s time for those of us who live in Havelock and surrounding areas to speak up, tell the Ontario Ministry of Transportation, Dave Smith. MPP for Peterborough-Kawartha, Peterborough County Council and Havelock-Belmont-Methuen Council know how we feel. WE NEED TRAFFIC LIGHTS INSTALLED AT HWY 7 and MARY STREET in Havelock to slow the traffic down so no more lives are lost. This is your chance to speak up and have your day, hopefully the powers that be will listen! Sign this petition!!
