Last year I  had the pleasure of working with a group of final year law students from one of the most prestigious NSW Universities ranked in the top 1% of universities in the world by QS World University Rankings 2017/18

The students studied the Forensic Reports written by Dr Johnn Olsen, Professor Ian Coyle and Professor Graham Starmer, The Autopsy Report for the Coroner and Findings of Deputy State Coroner H.C.B Dillon, Autopsy Photos and had access to my binder ADAM CECIL Glebe Ref: 1263/05 – Judicial Irregularities

During our 2019 final end of year discussion the students handed me a paper:

QUESTIONS FOR EXPERT

  1. In your opinion, what are the major advances that have occurred in the DNA field since 2003?
  2. Can you provide a summary of the major advances in DNA in relation to testing blood on clothing from 2005 onwards?
  3. In your opinion, are there areas of the original pathology/autopsy reports that you felt were dealt with insufficiently or overlooked?
  4. What were the requirements for an autopsy reporting in 2005? What are the guidelines suggested now?
  5. Are there any discrepancies between the autopsy report, autopsy photos and the report to the coroner? If so, please outline.
  6. In your experience, what kind of injuries would you commonly expect of a fall victim?
  7. In your experience, would you expect victims of a fall to have such scattered injuries over the body?
  8. In your experience, is it common for the point of impact to be unascertainable?
  9. In your opinion, what was Mr Cecil’s cause of death?
