The issue

The NSW Department of Education failed thousands of students and families during the 2025 OC and Selective High School Placement Tests—particularly at the major venues of Canterbury Park Racecourse, Randwick Racecourse, and Sydney Olympic Park.

Students who had spent months preparing were met with chaos, overcrowding, and hours of waiting in confusion. There was no crowd control, no clear direction, and no regard for student wellbeing. What unfolded was a deeply unprofessional and disrespectful experience that no child or parent should ever be subjected to—especially in a high-stakes academic setting.

The handling of the test days was shockingly poor. The Department demonstrated a complete lack of planning, leadership, and empathy.

We demand:

A transparent and independent investigation into the planning and execution failures.
The resignation of the NSW Minister for Education, Prue Car, who must take responsibility for this failure.

Our children deserve better. Responsibility must be taken. This cannot happen again.
