We are currently fighting for a secondary school place in our hometown of Worksop for Riley. He’s the only one out of a class of 30 that hasn’t been offered a school place in Worksop.

Riley has been allocated a place at Meden School 9 miles away - there is no school bus and public transport is not regular meaning Riley will need to be on a bus at 6.15am to make the school start time, and will then be waiting in the town for almost 2 hours for school to start. He will not arrive home until after 4.30pm. As one of the youngest class members, Riley has not yet turned 11 and we are concerned that this is a safeguarding issue. It also means that once homework is completed, Riley will be unable to socialise with friends in the week and is likely to be extremely tired.

The appeal made to Nottinghamshire County Council was refused - every other child in Riley's class is transitioning to a Worksop comprehensive and this is causing Riley a great deal of worry and upset on top of the natural anxiety that comes with moving to secondary school

It’s totally unacceptable and imagine if this was your child. All children should be given the same opportunities to thrive and be happy in their learning environments to achieve and succeed. No child should be left behind on their own feeling left out, miserable and unsupported.
