Boudreaux’s law would help to protect our four legged accident victims!
The Issue
1. 911 dispatch should ask the question are animals in vehicles for any car accident , if yes animal control officer to be dispatched to the scene
2 all officers responding sheriff, local pd and state troopers should have a dog catchers noose in the vehicle! Standard equipment for safety. All officers should complete a education course of how to deal with traumatized animals to get them to safety
3 animal shall be removed from wreckage and placed immediately into a safe location/vehicle to avoid further injury or trauma
4 bolo alarm to me sent to local cell phones like and amber alert for missing accident victims so locals know to look immediately call it a boo alert
5 auto insurance companies change the classification of pets from property like a piece of luggage in your car to companion
6 any size accident victims should be allowed to fly on commercial plane even if they have a ban my dogs couldn’t fly because they were more than 25 lbs
I never knew how often our pups more so than cats but how often they go missing from auto accidents until it happened to my husband and I traveling home from Virginia Beach,VA to Houston ,TX when we were involved in a 4 car accident including a 18 wheeler when the state trooper insisted I remove our pup Boudreaux he slipped his collar and took off running in fear and jumped into the great marsh swamp! I was once again made to remove my other dog from wreckage I asked where I was putting him ??? In that suv in ambulance in tow truck where ??? Well me and Declan were told to sit right here on the guard rail on the side of i95 as they reopened traffic! I was given a ride “with special permission “ by one state trooper to the hospital where my husband had been taken by ambulance so I could sit outside on the bench and wait to be seen myself after 6 days of searching the swamp areas around Saint Paul’s North Carolina and 960 miles on my rental car I finally found my pup he was in the middle of 95 getting ran over repeatedly! Needless to say I scooped my boy up and we headed back to Texas just as fast as we could we buried our sweet boy at the pet cemetery near the post office he always wanted to go to. We couldn’t fly home because the ban for dogs over 25lbs so I was forced to drive with my husband in pain and with a tremendous amount of fear. This was every pet owners worst nightmare and we lived it, we have to do better our pets are our family we have to train officers how to respond how to secure and make sure just a few simple changes could save so many so much heartache please help support Boudreaux’s law “no more Boo boos “
