The will of the Swedish chemist, engineer and industrialist Alfred Nobel established the five Nobel prizes in 1895. The prizes in Chemistry, Literature, Peace, Physics, and Physiology were first awarded in 1901. The prizes are widely regarded as the most prestigious awards available.

In 1968, Sweden's central bank established the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel. Swedish Bankers added Economics as the 6th Nobel category.

Ironically, economics and their perversion have created the environmental degradation we are all experiencing. Economic models that put shareholder return as the primary purpose of business have killed millions of animals, ruined countless forests, devastated the oceans and have displaced or murdered millions of people.

Let’s call for a 7th Nobel Category.  A Nobel Prize for the Environment. Awarded to the person or institution that creates powerful regenerative environmental opportunities, The Nobel for the Environment acknowledges those with the greatest positive impact on all sentient life.
