No tax on O.T & Vacation Pay in Canada

No tax on O.T & Vacation Pay in Canada
The Issue
My concern over the current tax system in Canada, particularly the taxation of overtime pay and vacation pay. As a hard-working Canadian citizen, I find it increasingly difficult to understand why individuals who put in extra hours or take well-earned time off are taxed on their earnings in this way.
Overtime pay should be seen as compensation for additional effort and time, and vacation pay is, in essence, deferred income for the purpose of rest and rejuvenation. Taxing these forms of income puts undue pressure on workers who are already facing the challenges of rising costs of living. Many Canadians are struggling to make ends meet, and the additional tax burden on overtime and vacation pay only exacerbates this issue.
The reality is that Canadians are being overtaxed. Between the high cost of housing, groceries, and essential goods and services, many individuals are finding it difficult, if not impossible, to cover the basic needs of their families. While we all understand the necessity of taxes to fund public services, the current system is disproportionately affecting working Canadians.
I urge you and the Liberal government to reconsider the taxation policies on overtime and vacation pay. There are many ways to address the nation’s financial needs without placing an unfair burden on those who are already struggling to make a living. Tax fairness should be a priority, and it’s time that workers who contribute their time and effort to the economy are not further penalized for doing so.
