Students at every major university and many high schools across Australia will be walking out of class AGAIN on September 17th to oppose the racist, sexist, far-right politics of Pauline Hanson and One Nation. Pauline Hanson has called for a return to the White Australia Policy, which blocked immigration for all non-European people; she has claimed that there are "no good muslims"; she has called for the winding back of abortion rights; she wants to make it easier to fire workers. Hanson and her far-right movement wants to mount a massive attack all oppressed people in Australia.

To oppose these politics, tens of thousands of students cross the country have joined the Students Say NO to Hanson movement. On August 13th, over 10,000 students walked out of class and joined protests in every major city. In Sydney, 3,000 students from UTS, UNSW, USyd, MQ, WSU, and many high schools met at Town Hall in the biggest anti-far-right protest in years.

The second Students Say NO rally is happening on September 17th. The UTS contingent will be meeting outside Building 1 at 12:45pm. Students have an important role to play in fighting the far right. We've seen examples in the mass student protests in Germany against the AfD and in India against Modi, where young people have won significant victories. We want to bring this radical energy to UTS.

Students have a right to protest and it is more important than ever for students to join a serious movement against bigots like Hanson, who want to roll back everyone's rights.

Students demand that UTS management does not apply any penalties to those who skip their classes to attend the protest. UTS management should send an email making it clear to students that those who choose to join the protest will not be punished for their participation.
