NJ TRANSIT DIRECT BUS ROUTE TO PHILADELPHIA FROM TOMS RIVER

The Issue

Toms River being a somewhat Bedroom community by which New York City is accessible to residents via an express bus service that runs from the Toms River Bus Station located on Highland Parkway to the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Midtown Manhattan while also an express bus service runs to the Atlantic City Bus Terminal from the Toms River Bus Station one begs the question why NJ Transit only offers transit bus service from Toms River to Philadelphia via Atlantic City, making a trip that would normally take around an hour and a half into a journey of over three hours. Even a Philadelphia to Toms River bus service that offered a route once in the morning and a return route twice in the evening would allow residents of Toms River, especially those that live near downtown Toms River and can walk to the Bus Station, the ability to conduct business in Philadelphia, seek employment there, use the Philadelphia International Airport more easily, go to Philly doctors, or simply enjoy the many cultural institutions that Philadelphia has to offer. Here in Toms River we live so close to New York City and Atlantic City in our minds but Philly seems to us to be a little more distant and less accessible and that is directly because of the lack of decent, good, and honest public transport to reach that wonderful city and all that it has to offer.
