No lost teaching time due to extended Christmas break
The Issue
We understand that the Scottish Government is currently considering an extended break for schools, finishing on 18th December and returning on 11th January.
This would result in a full week of lost face-to-face teaching time for our children, who have already lost 3 months of their education during lockdown.
Thousands of children have already lost many face-to-face teaching days due to self-isolation rules.
While we understand the reasons for this idea, we believe our children must not lose any more face-to-face education when they have lost so much already.
Many working parents will also be unable to afford another week at home.
If we do have an extended Christmas break, these teaching days MUST be given back to our children during this academic year, before exams are sat, by increasing the number of teaching days in the spring term.
