Stephanie Lopez was sentenced to 27 years in prison after being convicted by a jury of negligently permitting child abuse, resulting in death or great bodily harm. Autopsy findings revealed five month old Brianna had suffered "numerous human bite marks throughout her entire body, scraping and bruising injuries, extensive injuries to her head and fatal injuries to her brain, bleeding within membranes around the brain as well as the nerves around her eyes, indicating she had been violently shaken. Brianna's skull had 5-7 day old fractures in two places, on two different bones. Both old and new blood were present, indicating a previous injury to the brain. Brianna had two rib fractures that were weeks old upon her death. The baby also had bucket handle fractures on both thigh bones and a fracture on her left arm. Baby Brianna's anus and vagina were also injured." Currently, Brianna is buried in a pauper's grave as no family members came forward to claim her body. She is buried underneath a cage to keep mourners away. Stephanie Lopez is up for parole in September 2016. It is our duty as human beings to let it be known that the life of this child, or any child, is worth much more than a punishment of jail with the privilege of parole being granted in a few short years for good behavior as there are no children in prison to offend. Please sign this petition in an effort to keep Stephanie Lopez from being granted parole in 2016. We, the people undersigned, call on the Governor of New Mexico, the New Mexico Parole Board and the President of the United States to make it known that we want to revoke eligibility of parole for Stephanie Lopez, instead requiring she serve all time sentenced for her part in the death of her child, Brianna Mariah Lopez. The kind of woman who would have a hand in brutally murdering her own baby, does not deserve to be out of prison. Personally, I don't feel she should be allowed to live either, but that's not my call. Brittani Nobis, Las Cruces, NM2 days ago 265 Report I am so sickened that any person could do this to a baby. What makes it even more more disgusting and disturbing is that it was her mother, father and uncle. This monster should never feel the sun on her face again and never be allowed out of her cage. For a mother to abuse her baby and allow others to abuse and violate her baby is the most heinous crime anyone can commit. She along with the other two should rot and die in jail! Pat Rosen, Levittown, NY2 days ago 202 Report Our defenseless children need protection from these type of predators. A person who will allow a baby to suffer such atrocities cannot function in our society. She will be a constant threat to all children. Should she ever get pregnant again, we can be sure that she will be an unfit and dangerous guardian. Someone who allows such suffering to be inflicted on a child cannot ever sympathize with another human being. If Stephanie Lopez is released many will loose faith in a legal system that would allow such criminals to be released.
