As we look to grow the game of field hockey in the US, we also need to be aware and grow the broadcasting and commentating! We hold players, coaches, and umpires accountable for the things that they say and do in our sport. Let's start to hold the TV crews accountable as well if we REALLY want to grow the game.

For years, we have listened to Leah and Suzanne on the NCAA championship; but it is time to let someone new step in. Though they are both enthusiastic and do a great job with knowing players, teams, and coaches, they lack a basic understanding of the sport and its rules. 

It has hit a point where the two of them on finals is more harmful to our sport than helpful. Saying a ball "obviously" hits a foot or a back stick when it doesn't. Making up rules and getting them blatantly wrong. Running in circles speculating until an uncomfortable silence is in the air because they have no idea what else to say. We are trying to grow the game here, and that means growing and improving commentary as well. We want viewers of our sport to be informed and understand what they are seeing. 

This petition is seeking to have new commentators on next year's NCAA tournament- the Final Four specifically. There are people out there who have experience and know the ins and outs of the sport better than the two we have had for years. People who know rules AND have experience commentating. International players and umpires, recent college grads, college coaches- the list goes on. Let's do better for our sport.
