Aleksander is a complex character in the tv series and the book series called Shadow and Bone. In the series Fjerda have been killing Grisha for hundreds of years and they never fought back. Aleksander did fight back and made the fold. Making the fold was not intentional. He only wanted to create an army that would listen to him but the science/magic he used came with a price and that price was the fold. It was wrong of him to try to use the fold to control the other countries but at the same time I can understand where he is coming from, he is doing what he thinks is best for his people (Grisha) and for what is right for Ravka. Using the fold to control the other countries is not a bad idea. In modern day society many countries use nuclear bombs and other weapons so whats so wrong about him using the fold ? Yes he has done terrible things and his actions shouldn’t be excused but I think he at least deserves at chance to redeem himself and to end up with Alina. In the books Alina ends up with Mal so why not give fans a chance to see an ending where Alina and Aleksander end up together. Alina and Aleksander also have a lot of chemistry and nobody can understand Alina in the ways that Aleksander can. This is solely my opinion and it is based on what happens in the tv series.
