Rupin Sharma a Nagaland Cadre IPS officer was appointed the DGP of Nagaland with effect from November 24 2017. He previously held the post of Director General Prison and HG/CD and SP of Peren. He is very popularly known among the citizens of Nagaland as he has been really interactive with the Public and has taken upon the challenge to bring professionalism and transparency to the Police Department which is also not spared from corruption.

He has already taken up many projects with the help of locals to modernize the way policing is done at the same time taking into account the opinions of the people. He has earned the trust and loyalty of the local people.

On 28th March 2018, The newly appointed Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland Mr. Y.Patton (Previous position Home Minister) has requested for a replacement citing the points as he is "inexperienced" and prefers someone who is "well aware of local issues". Which is totally incorrect and not at all in the "Interest of the public" as mentioned in the letter. The letter by DY CM Y.Patton is a direct violation of the order from the Supreme court where it states "a minimum of two years tenure" for any DGP appointed.

Nagaland is one of the most corrupted states and the recent case of MKR Pillai should be an eye opener. We need dedicated officers serving from the right Chair and the people of Nagaland have high hopes on Rupin Sharma to lead the fight against corruption starting from the Police Department.

We seek nothing but the right decision makers to acknowledge the plight of the Naga People and allow the DGP of Nagaland, Rupin Sharma to continue in his current position.
