The issue

My uncle died from motor neurone disease (MND), a cruel and relentless illness that slowly robs people of their ability to move, speak, and eventually breathe. Seeing him struggle daily, and eventually succumb to MND, was heart-wrenching for me and my family. His courage, resilience, and optimism through it all were truly inspiring, and it made me realize the importance of recognizing and honoring those who fight against such devastating conditions.

That is why I am calling for a statue of Neale Daniher, a hero and crusader in the fight against MND. Neale Daniher, former AFL player and coach, was diagnosed with MND in 2013. Despite his diagnosis, Neale has become a beacon of hope for thousands battling this debilitating disease. Through his tireless efforts with the 'FightMND' Foundation, he has raised millions of dollars for research, bringing us closer each day to finding a cure.

Having a statue of Neale Daniher would not only honor a man who has made significant contributions to the community but also raise awareness of MND and inspire others to support this vital cause. His story is one of resilience, dedication, and compassion—a story that deserves to be celebrated.

Let us ensure that Victoria commemorates a leader who has united and motivated us towards a better future. I urge you to sign this petition today for Neale Daniher by honoring a man whose life work has brought hope and strength to many battling MND.
