Bose family members are planning to meet PM Modi in early January 2017 to urge him to solve the mystery and declare Netaji's birthday as Patriot Day. They would appeal to the PM to form a panel of experts to decode the declassified files and to send a high level delegation to Russia to obtain secret KGB files. They want the Government to either accept or reject with reasons the Mukherjee Commission report which was earlier rejected by the Congress Government. Though secret Netaji files have been declassified by Indian Government in 2016, no major headway has been achieved yet in solving the mystery of his disappearance. Family members and researchers have been since long asking for declassification of secret files on Netaji held by foreign countries and obtaining them to throw light on the disappearance of Netaji.
