PM Narendra Modi had tweeted on 14 October 2015 that he would request foreign Governments to declassify files on Netaji available with them beginning with Russia in December last year. India's foreign secretary S. Jaishankar, had announced in a press conference on 22 December 2015 that PM Narendra Modi would take up a range of economic and political issues, including that of Netaji files, during his last year meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. But ever since his return to the country, PM Narendra Modi has been silent on what transpired in the talks between him and Putin in this matter. The country has been waiting to see what happens, but apart from a customary denial from Russia, nothing has happened so far. India and Russia have signed several major agreements including key defence deals after a bilateral meeting between PM Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the ongoing BRICS 2016 summit in Goa. Indo-Russian bilateral ties definitely need to remain strong, but what about Netaji files in Russia, is the issue getting buried under deals?
