More Schools for neurodivegent kids

More Schools for neurodivegent kids
The Issue
Petition for More Schools and Centers for Neurodivergent Children in South Africa
To: The Department of Basic Education, The Department of Health, and The Government of South Africa
We, the undersigned, call for urgent action to increase access to quality education and specialized support for neurodivergent children in South Africa, including those with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, and other neurodevelopmental conditions.
The Issue:
Thousands of neurodivergent children across South Africa lack access to appropriate education and therapeutic support due to a severe shortage of specialized schools, learning centers, and trained educators. Many families struggle to find affordable, inclusive, and accessible services, leaving children without the essential interventions they need to thrive. Without the right support, these children face developmental setbacks, exclusion, and limited opportunities for their future.
Our Demands:
Build More Specialized Schools & Centers – Increase the number of government-funded schools and therapy centers specifically designed to support neurodivergent children in every province.
Improve Teacher Training & Resources – Equip educators and school staff with specialized training to support neurodivergent students effectively and foster inclusive learning environments.
Ensure Affordable & Accessible Services – Provide free or subsidized access to special education programs, therapy, and support services for families in need.
Increase Government Funding – Allocate more resources toward neurodiversity-friendly education, early intervention services, and family support programs.
Strengthen Policies for Inclusion – Implement and enforce policies that promote the rights of neurodivergent children, ensuring they receive equal educational opportunities.
Why This Matters:
Every child, regardless of their neurological differences, deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and reach their full potential.
Early intervention and specialized education significantly improve the long-term success and well-being of neurodivergent children.
Families should not have to fight for their children's right to an appropriate education and support system.
By signing this petition, you are advocating for a more inclusive and supportive education system in South Africa, ensuring that no neurodivergent child is left behind.
Together, we can create a future where all children have access to the education and support they deserve!
