Mordialloc Skatepark need an update!
The issue
Hello Everyone,
My name is Tommy Breaks, long-time skater, and owner of Indoor Skatepark Curbside Coaching in Mordialloc. Not only from Curbside but from skating all around Melbourne we have seen a huge increase in the number of people taking up Skateboarding, as a hobby, to keep fit, to stay connected to the community and most importantly to gain self confidence.
We believe that Mordialloc Creek reserve has huge potential to build a state-of-the-art Skatepark, as it's been there for over 10 years, it can be integrated into the old park and expand around the featuring trees and carving, a barrier could be erected to stop the potential hazard happening on Nepean Highway.
We know this would be a great youth space for the city of Kingston, as the youth center is now based in Mordialloc and could reach out and create new programs helping youth. It is close to the train station but out of the way for residents. Plus just in the Mordialloc main street there is now one of the biggest Skateboard shops OCD, plus a number of businesses that would benefit from the tourism it would create because if there is a great skatepark people will travel from all over the world to skate it.
This is also a reach out to Kingston City Council to look at creating more safe skate spaces. We have Chelsea, a fantastic skatepark, but is often too croweded as it's the best park in the Kingston area. Cheltenham is getting closer to being demolished for the Surban Rail Loop, and well Dingley sucks.
We need action now, at Curbside will be willing to do fundraisers and charity events to make this happen, with community support!
Please sign our petition and share it with your friends, as we need to reach as many people as possible.
Thanks for taking the time to do your part,
Tommy Breaks,
