Toilet Rights For Pupils @ Monmouth Comp

The Issue

Pupil's at MCS are currently unable to have ANY access to toilets during lesson time unless there are extremely mitigating circumstances - and even in some of these circumstances a toilet pass is still not issued.

For young girls, an early or unexpected period  For any pupil, a stomach bug or reaction to medication. For all students suffering from a UTI or bladder/kidney issues, Immediate and urgent access to a toilet is necessary and I feel, is a basic hunan right.

Obviously not all scenarios could possibly be listed but those mentioned above and a myriad of others would require a pupil to be able to have adequate access to toilet facilties at any given point in the school day.

Lack of access to toilets during lesson times is causing a whole host of avoidable issues such as extended UTI infections, stress on females during certain times of the month, distraction for any pupil needing the toilet urgently. And it should be noted that a distracted pupil is not an attentive or learning pupil. More importantly, many students are intentionally dehydrating themselves rather than risk being 'caught short', which is counterproductive and in some cases (UTI's), extending the length of time pupils are ill and/or suffering.

This petition is to ask that rules be relaxed for pupils in all year groups, on toilet useage during lesson times and that reasonable access be allowed.
