Mobilize International Assistance for Bangladeshi Students Fighting for Jobs

The Issue

The students of Bangladesh are currently facing an escalating wave of violence as they stand for their rights to secure jobs.  Pleas and protests to the government are met with violence. The death toll of students is rising as we speak. The government has cut off all communication to the outside world in an attempt to silence their movement and no one is able to reach their loved ones.

These youths are not only the future of Bangladesh; they're the future of our world. We call for international attention and assistance to this cause, urging governments, NGOs, and international bodies to voice their support, press for change, and provide necessary aid where possible for these courageous students.

With every signature, we're one step closer towards ensuring their peaceful protest for job rights is met with the respect it deserves, not violence. Please sign this petition to stand with the students of Bangladesh.

For some background: Introduced in 1972, Bangladesh's quota system has gone through several changes since; it was abolished in 2018 but was then brought back by the courts this year. 56% of government jobs are blocked under various quotas, 30% of which have been reserved for freedom fighters' families, the numbers of whom are nowhere near 30% of the population of students.

As a result very few jobs are left for the students who work hard to try to survive and earn for their families in an economy that is already largely poor.

The students are fighting for abolishing this quota system so that jobs can be earned through deserved merit.  The government has responded to their protests for their basic rights with violence, murder and an attempt to gag their movement.

With this petition you can help our students get international support and much needed aid.
