Tell Republicans in Congress To Stop Blocking President Obama's Supreme Court Nominee

The Issue

Republicans are disgracefully spitting on the U.S. Constitution by attempting to undermine the legitimacy of our duly elected President, Barack Obama.

In an unprecedented move: Senate Republicans vowed to deny holding confirmation hearings for President Barack Obama's Supreme Court nominee -- even promising to deny meeting privately with whomever the President picks. Not only is this highly disrespectful towards the President, it goes against all tradition and historical precedent in American politics.

Republican Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell, says “The American people should have a voice in the selection of their next Supreme Court Justice."

McConnell fails to acknowledge that the American people spoke very clearly and loudly when we re-elected Obama by 5 million votes in 2012.

By refusing to even consider Obama's supreme court pick, Congressional Republicans are actively undermining the duty of the President under the U.S. Constitution to make nominations for vacancies on the Supreme Court. Senate Republicans are also violating their Constitutional responsibility to provide advice and consent to the President's nominee for the court.

Tell Republicans to end their extreme partisan grandstanding.

We the American people deserve better. We demand a full hearing and an up or down vote from Congress on whoever the President nominates to the Supreme Court.
