Across the State, patients show up to urgent cares with a bigger problem than they realize. It might be a stroke, a heart attack or a sick baby - sicker than the parents realized. However, unfortunately if it’s getting close to 8pm, the patient finds that the doors are locked or the staff seems to want them to go away. This is unacceptable. Imagine taking your elderly mother to an urgent cares (you know how long it takes to just get in and out of the car) only to find that the urgent care is closing. Any healthcare facility which wishes to use the word ‘urgent’ in its name must be required by law to be open 24 hours a day. The people of Missouri deserve better than the current situation. Please sign this petition AND ask your local elected official to make all urgent cares open all the time, just like Emergency Departments. After all, even doctors have trouble differentiating between what’s ‘urgent’ and what’s an ‘emergency’. Words matter. Lives matter. Common sense matters. This change in the law, once passed, will hurt nobody. Instead, it will help every Missouri citizen overnight.
