Roleystone Community College does not have a gymnasium, a facility that is widely considered standard and essential infrastructure for secondary schools.

Without it, our kindergarten to year 10 college lacks adequate indoor sporting and performing arts spaces. We have more than 850 students (and are growing every year) yet cannot hold assemblies for the whole primary school, let alone the whole college. We do have two small undercover areas, but these are not large enough, nor appropriate for sports and performing arts activities. They also do not have air conditioning, and there is only so much a few fans can do to combat the heat in summer.

Imagine the teaching opportunities a multipurpose gymnasium would create for our sports and performing arts students, plus local community groups and clubs would be able to use it outside of school hours.

We support the principle that every child deserves a quality education and access to the necessary tools and facilities to achieve that.

We also believe it is critical that our governments support and encourage projects that create local jobs and boost our local economy. Building a multipurpose gymnasium at Roleystone Community College will create local jobs today, equip our children for the future by enhancing their education, and create a facility that can be shared with the broader Roleystone community.

The Roleystone Community College P&C has been tirelessly advocating to the relevant Government agencies. We want a commitment to build our gym by the next State election.
