Technet subscriptions are an extremely important in so many ways. They allow IT pros to evaluate products without time constraints before recommending them to customers. They allow IT departments to test products to make sure they are "right" before implementation. They allow for people to learn how different operating systems and other software packages work, how to install them, and train on them before going to a prod environment. There are many other beneficial reasons to keep Technet going as well!
