Make Animal Testing Illegal in Michigan

Make Animal Testing Illegal in Michigan
The Issue
As of 2021, Each year, more than 100 million animals, including mice, rats, frogs, dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, monkeys, fish, and birds are killed in U.S. laboratories for chemical, drug, food, and cosmetics testing, the tests are also used for biology lessons, medical training, curiosity-driven experimentation . Before their deaths, some are forced to inhale toxic fumes, others are immobilized in restraint devices for hours, some have holes drilled into their skulls, and others have their skin burned off or their spinal cords crushed. In addition to the torment of the actual experiments, animals in laboratories are deprived of everything that is natural and important to the them, they are confined to barren cages, socially isolated, and psychologically traumatized. The thinking, feeling animals who are used in experiments are treated like nothing more than disposable laboratory equipment.
According to The Statistic Brain Research Institution, about 19,500,000 animals die each year due to animal testing and this source was noted only 4 years ago,so it may be more now.
Michigan alone, has a really BAD reputation for involving our state into such a trend. An article titled "University of Michigan Ranked Among Worst Animal Testing Offenders" states "Ann Arbor, Mich. – As the school year begins at the University of Michigan, PETA is alerting students to its new feature, “Failed Tests,” which ranks colleges as “bad,” “worse,” or “worst” for animals—and the University of Michigan, which used dogs, cats, more than 150 guinea pigs, more than 20 monkeys, and hundreds of rabbits, sheep, and pigs, along with other animals, in experiments last year, is among the “worst.” The University of Michigan received more than $552 million in funding from the National Institutes of Health in 2018. Records obtained by PETA reveal numerous incidents of neglect and incompetence in the university’s laboratories. Painful tumors in mice weren’t adequately monitored and were allowed to develop past protocol limits, several mice died of dehydration when a water system malfunctioned and no one noticed, and numerous mice and rats died after experimenters failed to follow procedures used to prevent contamination during experimental surgeries. Living mice and rats were found in coolers after workers failed to ensure that the animals were dead before discarding their bodies. “Students live and work on university campuses for years without knowing that animals are being neglected, burned, poisoned, crippled, blinded, and tormented in a host of other ways right under their noses,” says PETA Senior Vice President Kathy Guillermo. “As the school year begins, PETA is asking caring University of Michigan students to speak out against the abuse of sensitive, sentient beings in their midst.” PETA points out that a 2018 Pew Research poll found that the majority of Americans oppose animal experimentation, with even greater opposition among younger demographics such as college students. No animal test is prohibited by law, no matter how painful or irrelevant, and mice, rats, birds, reptiles, and amphibians are excluded from protection under federal law. Numerous published studies have shown that animal experimentation wastes resources and lives, as more than 90% of highly promising results from basic science research—much of it involving animal experimentation—fail to lead to treatments for humans. And 95% of new medications that are found to be effective in animals fail in human clinical trials." dated September 2019
Only 4 states so far have banned the use of animal testing, so what are we waiting for Michigan? Lets be the change we want to see!
According to https://www.michigan.gov/mdhhs/ "The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services will not exclude from participation in, deny benefits of, or discriminate against any individual or group because of race, sex, religion, age, national origin, color, height, weight, marital status, gender identification or expression, sexual orientation, partisan considerations, or a disability or genetic information that is unrelated to the person’s eligibility.
On behalf of the non-profit organization - Jesus Loves Animals, our "religion" Christianity, calls for us to protect God's animals. In Proverbs 12:10 the Holy Bible states "Whoever is righteous has regard for the life of his beast, but the mercy of the wicked is cruel." As Christians we are called to do right, and not be wicked when we have knowledge that can help us repent from such wickedness. There is so much more knowledge that has been brought to our attention about animal abuse and we should no longer be ignorant to that information. Genesis 1:26-28 "26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth." The definition of Beast is : /bēst/ noun, an animal, especially a large or dangerous four-footed one. Knowing that we have dominion over animals, we are responsible to have regard for the life of our beasts. So if you love Jesus, know that you must love animals too, and Psalms 36:6-7 states praise to God saying "Your righteousness is like the highest mountains, your justice like the great deep. You, LORD, preserve both people and animals. How priceless is your unfailing love, O God! People take refuge in the shadow of your wings." Therefore God sent Jesus Christ to save us, and loves animals enough to save them as well, so lets save the animals from abuse, and praise our heavenly father for it, giving all glory to God knowing it is done, starting now!
On behalf of the non-profit organization Jesus loves animals, I am asking for a law to, similarly like other states who have banned the use of animal testing, PROHIBIT a cosmetics manufacturer from conducting or contracting for cosmetic animal testing purposes that occurs in the Commonwealth, manufacturing or importing for profit into the Commonwealth any cosmetic or ingredient thereof, if the cosmetics manufacturer know or reasonably should know that the cosmetic or any component thereof is/was developed or manufactured using cosmetic animal testing, selling or offering for sale within the Commonwealth any cosmetic, if the cosmetics manufacturer knows or reasonably should know that the cosmetic or any component thereof is/was developed or manufactured using cosmetic animal testing, Asking for Violations to be put in to place that are subject to a civil penalty of up to $5,000 and an additional $1,000 for each day the violation continues. The bill would also preempt any local regulation on cosmetic animal testing.
