The issue

Students face constant pressure from homework, tests, assignments, sports, and social expectations. Having one planned day off school each month would give them time to rest, recharge, and look after their mental health. This can reduce stress and anxiety, improve focus and motivation, and help students return to school ready to learn. Taking care of mental health is just as important as taking care of physical health, and regular breaks can improve both wellbeing and academic performance.

What this day will do:

  • It helps prevent burnout and exhaustion.
  • Students who are well-rested concentrate better in class.
  • It can reduce anxiety and improve emotional wellbeing.
  • Better mental health often leads to improved attendance and academic results.
  • It teaches students that looking after their mental health is important, just like looking after their physical health.

One mental health day each month is a small change that could make a big difference by helping students stay happier, healthier, and more successful at school.
