Bring Back Medicare rebates for Abdominoplasty & muscle repair after childbirth

The issue

On 1st April 2016 Medicare changed the rules with regards to patients having access to medicare benefits for abdominoplasty procedures.

When a woman carries a baby to full term the uterus expands around the size of a watermelon. The way this happens is stretching the muscles from the side of the body but mainly through the HUGE stretching of the muscles (and skin) of the tummy. The rectus muscles (ie the 6pack) is stretched and 'split from each other' so the tummy can get bigger to hold the baby.

Once the baby is born this does not repair itself!

This can exacerbate lower back pain, stress incontinence, and many more issues!

This can be avoided. Let mums worry about bringing up their kids, not their quality of life.
