MCMC Sisters Badminton: Requesting additional Gym Time

MCMC Sisters Badminton: Requesting additional Gym Time
The Issue
Sisters Deserve Equal Access to Sports Facilities
Every evening, from 8:15 PM to 11:00 PM, the MCMC Brothers have exclusive access to the gym for all kinds of sports activities. Whether it's basketball, volleyball, badminton, cricket or any other sport, they have the privilege to enjoy a variety of athletic pursuits in the prime time after dinner. Meanwhile, we, the MCMC Sisters, are restricted to just a narrow window from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM on Saturdays to play badminton. This time slot is not only inconvenient due to personal and academic commitments but also limits our ability to participate in sports we love.
This disparity in access perpetuates inequality, sending a clear message that sisters' sports aren't valued as highly as brothers' sports within the MCMC community. In a world striving for gender equality, it's crucial for institutions like MCMC to adopt fair practices that promote inclusivity.
Statistics show that women are less likely to participate in sports due to less access to facilities and programs, as reported by numerous sports studies. Yet, participation in sports is vital for cultivating leadership, promoting health, and building community for everyone, irrespective of gender. The current arrangement discourages sisters from engaging in regular physical activity, which is essential for our well-being and development.
What We Are Requesting:
We propose an additional time slot at least twice a week, dedicated to MCMC Sisters for playing badminton or any other sport of choice. Such a change would not only demonstrate the community's commitment to gender equality but also foster a more inclusive environment where all members feel valued.
Giving women equal opportunity in sports isn't just a fairness issue—it's a community health one. Physical activities contribute to better mental and physical health and provide a platform for social interaction, personal growth, and empowerment. It's time MCMC acknowledges this by revisiting their time allocation for sports facilities.
Join us in advocating for fair gym hours. Sign this petition to urge MCMC to ensure equitable access to sports facilities for all sisters, promoting an environment where everyone has the opportunity to thrive equally.
