Implementation for public libraries to be equipped with toy libraries

Play is the best option to help a child develop to their fullest potential! Through play, a child learns essential skills, giving them a head start in life and preparing them for formal schooling.
As adults, we have a responsibility to help our children exercise their right to access quality play-based learning opportunities.
Did you know that we can ignite every child’s potential in South Africa through play thanks to our National Integrated Childhood Development Policy? The policy assigns responsibility to the Department of Arts and Culture and municipalities to offer members of their book and toy libraries access to developmentally appropriate educational play material.
Let’s get our communities involved and eliminate the threat to children’s play and learning opportunities. It’s time to get our libraries to serve as safe play spaces, where we host play sessions for our children and, where we offer individual toy lending services to parents that cannot access any play materials.
Sign our online petition and get members of your community to do the same and we will work with the community to demand toy library services from your local municipality.
Email info@cotlands.org if you need more information on what a toy library service offers.
