Name the Sky Dome a Toronto Heritage Site to stop it from being torn down by Rogers

Rogers Communcations Inc, who currently owns the Sky Dome has announced plans to tear down the entire facility and construct a new smaller stadium along with more over priced condos. While there are many hurdles currently facing this development, a company like Rogers won't be stopped, only slowed down. This needs to end.
The Sky Dome is an iconic part of the Toronto skyline, and has been for the last 31 years. Tearing it down to build a smaller version and add condos is insulting, crass, and heartless, demonstrating the total disregard Rogers Communications Inc has for anything but their own bottom line and their CEOs ego.
The aim of this petition is to get the City of Toronto, namely the Mayor's Office and the Heritage Register, to name the Sky Dome a heritage site for the city, which would prevent anyone from tearing the structure down. This is not a large stretch as the CN Tower next door is a heritage site, as is Maple Leaf Gardens. Both of these structures were built within the last century, and the CN Tower was built in 1973 compared to the Sky Dome's 1989.
It takes a pen stroke to preserve a part of our history. A stadium where the Toronto Blue Jays won the 1993 World Series, and the first stadium in the world with a working retractable roof. With that in mind I, and those signed to this petition, urge the Mayor of Toronto and the City of Toronto Heritage Register to declare the Sky Dome a heritage building to preserve it in place for generations to come as an important and iconic part of our city's history, instead of letting it be replaced by yet more condos.
