Opriți uciderea câinilor în Adăpostul Public din Breasta, România. Noua conducere a adăpostului a decis să modifice regulile de păstrare a câinilor fără stăpân în adăpostul public Breasta după cum urmează: Câinii fără stăpân capturați în orașul Craiova vor fi ținuți timp de 30 de zile, iar dacă nu sunt revendicați sau adoptați până la acel moment, vor fi eutanasiați Câinii fără stăpân capturați în orașele și satele din jurul Craiovei vor fi ținuți timp de 14 zile, iar dacă nu sunt revendicați sau adoptați până la acel moment, vor fi eutanasiați. Vă rugăm să reconsiderați această decizie și să alegeți o soluție mai bună pentru cetățenii orașului dumneavoastră și pentru câinii fără stăpân. Există soluții mai ieftine, mai umane și demne de secolul 21, și vă vom sugera câteva mai jos: Campanii de sterilizare și castrare pentru public și amenzi pentru proprietari care aleg să încalce legea și să nu își sterilizeze câinii;
Oferiți unui ONG dreptul de a administra adăpostul, de a organiza campanii de sterilizare și castrare și evenimente de adopție. Desigur, ar fi un adăpost care nu ucide și ONG-ul ar păstra câinii până când vor fi revendicați sau adoptați. Câinii ar beneficia de îngrijirea unui veterinar pentru tratament medical pentru boli, intervenții chirurgicale de sterilizare și castrare, vaccinare și tratament antiparazitar.
Eutanasia nu este o soluție viabilă și este una foarte scumpă pentru bugetul unui oraș. Dacă o persoană nu vrea să-și sterilizeze câinele și acel câine are 6 căței de două ori pe an și puii abandonați ajung la Breasta, acest lucru ar costa primăriei 12 proceduri de eutanasie pe an timp de 8 ani în loc de o operație de sterilizare o singură dată.
Uciderea câinilor sănătoși, prietenoși, iubiți și hrăniți de voluntari este un act ilogic și inuman. Voluntarii din Breasta, salvatorii români și străini și eforturile lor comune au reușit să aibă un impact pozitiv asupra adăpostului iar faptul că țarcuri întregi sunt ținute goale în timp ce câinii trebuie să moară este inacceptabil și le provoacă multă durere și dezamăgire. Mai mult decât atât, în 2021, peste 400 de câini au fost adoptați sau salvați din Breasta înainte de eutanasie, datorită eforturilor lor comune. Câini au fost uciși în ultimele două zile, bănuim că în jur de 5 până astăzi, 20 ianuarie 2022.
Sperăm că veți lua în condiserare cererea noastră și veți fi salvatorul acestor suflete nevinovate.

Stop dogs being killed in the Public Shelter of Breasta, Romania. The new management of the shelter has decided to change the rules of keeping strays in Breasta as following :

Stray dogs captured in the city of Craiova will be kept for 30 days and if they are not claimed or adopted by that time they are to be euthanized

Stray dogs captured in the towns and villages around Craiova will be kept for 14 days and if not claimed or adopted by that time they are to be euthanized.

We kindly ask you to reconsider this decision and chose a better solution for the citizens of your city and the stray dogs too. Cheaper, more humane and 21st century solutions exist, we will suggest a few below :

Spay and neuter campaigns for the public and fines for the owners how choose to break the law and not spay their dogs;

Give an NGO the right to run the shelter, help organise spay and neuter campaigns and organise adoption events. It would of course be a no kill shelter and the NGO would keep the dogs until they get claimed or adopted. The dogs would benefit from the care of a vet for medical treatment for diseases, spay and neuter surgery, vaccination, and anti-parasite treatment.

Euthanisa is not a viable solution and it's a very expensive one for the budget of a city. If one person doesn't want to spay their dog and it has 6 puppies two times a year, and they abandon the pups and they arrive in Breasta, that would cost the city hall 12 euthanisa procedures per year for 8 years instead of a spay surgery once. Killing healthy, friendly dogs, loved and fed by volunteers is illogical and inhumane.

The volunteers in Breasta, Romanian and foreign rescuers and their common efforts have managed to make a positive impact on the shelter and the fact that entire kennels are kept empty while dogs have to die is unacceptable and causes them a lot of pain and disappointment. Furthermore, in 2021 more than 400 dogs have been adopted or saved from Breasta before their euthanisa thanks to their combined efforts.

We believe that Dogs have been killed in the last couple of days, we suspect around 5 up until today January the 20th 2022. We hope that you will hear our plea and be the saviour of these innocent souls.

Stop dogs being killed in the Public Shelter of Breasta, Romania. 100 dogs are due to be killed starting on Monday 18th June 2018 in the Breasta public shelter.

Dogs are brought to the Romania Public Shelter, Breasta (and in many other pounds across the country), and then kept for 21 days, they are then placed on a "Kill List" and euthanased if no home can be found within days.

Since February 2018 not one single dog at Breasta has been killed due to successful and relentless activities between rescue-individuals, international rescue-organisations and local fosterers. This social action has saved 100's of dogs in a few months . These dogs are not ill or aggressive.

Recently the pressure has been accelerated, since dog-catchers have started to also catch dogs outside the Breasta community and consequently more dogs have been brought in. Dog catchers get paid a significant amount from the EU for each dog brought in. We believe that the increase at Breasta is being driven by EU policy to pay dog catchers for each dog brought in.

Rescuers first had to deal with 30 dogs on average every 2 weeks, it now is 40 -50 dogs, which is  50 % more.

Having these beautiful souls killed is in no one’s interest when they can be saved and this is happening all over Romania.

Unfortunately the rescuers were informed on Friday 16th June  that on the coming Monday, 18th June, more than 100 dogs will be killed.
