I am writing this petition from a place of deep personal pain and loss. My mother, sister, and brother were tragically taken from us in a road traffic collision. They were traveling in a converted motorhome with rear side facing seats that had no seatbelts due to the vehicle's age. Shockingly, I discovered that it is not currently a legal requirement for all vehicles to have seatbelts for all passengers.

This lack of basic safety measures cost the lives of two out of my three family members who would still be alive today if there had been seatbelts on those side facing seats. It's devastating to know that their deaths could have been prevented by something as simple as a seatbelt.

According to the World Health Organization, wearing a seatbelt reduces the risk of fatality among drivers and front-seat passengers by 45-50%, and the risk of minor to critical injuries by 20-45%. This is not just about my family; it's about everyone who steps into any vehicle expecting it to be safe.

We cannot bring back those we've lost due to this oversight in our laws, but we can prevent others from experiencing such heart-wrenching loss. We must make it mandatory for all vehicles, regardless of age or type, to have functioning seatbelts for every passenger.
