The Issue

As an artist and author, I've devoted countless hours to honing my craft, translating imagination into vivid artwork and evocative prose. At the heart of creativity lies the essence of human experience, emotions, and perspectives — elements that make art and writing uniquely human. However, the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence poses a significant threat to this deeply personal and cultural expression.

Every day, I witness how AI-generated content increasingly infiltrates the creative world, blurring the lines between what is human-made and machine-produced. This technological surge may seem like progress, but it also muddies the waters, making it challenging for audiences to distinguish between artworks created by humans and those generated by algorithms. This obscurity not only devalues human creativity but also threatens the livelihood of countless artists, writers, and creators who rely on the authenticity and human touch of their work to connect with their audience.

The solution is clear: we must require, by law, that any content created with the assistance of AI is clearly labeled as such. By doing so, we can safeguard human creativity, ensure transparency, and provide consumers with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions about the art and media they consume. This is not merely about preserving jobs; it's about sustaining a diverse artistic culture, nurturing genuine creative talent, and upholding the integrity of human expression.

The evidence is mounting: a recent survey revealed that 65% of consumers expressed a preference for human-made art over AI-generated alternatives, while 78% agreed that AI creations should be clearly identified. Moreover, economic reports suggest that the art industry, already vulnerable to exploitation and undervaluation, faces increased financial risk if AI content is allowed to proliferate without regulation.

I urge lawmakers to take this issue seriously and enact legislation that mandates the clear labeling of AI-generated content. Such a law would bolster the creative community, protect artists, and maintain respect for authentic human contributions to art and literature.

Sign this petition to stand up for the uniqueness of human creativity and to push for laws that protect it from being overshadowed by machine-made imitations. Together, we can ensure that future generations also have a rich and diverse cultural landscape to explore and enjoy.
