My mum, a rock in our family, has been seizure-free for 27 years. However, her condition has prevented her from attending any show or concert she would love to watch due to the prevalent use of strobe lighting. We live in South Australia and it is heartbreaking that she can't enjoy these events without worrying about having a seizure.

It's not just my mum who faces this issue. Around 50 million people worldwide have epilepsy, making it one of the most common neurological diseases globally (World Health Organization). Strobe lights can trigger seizures in about 3% of individuals with epilepsy (Epilepsy Foundation). This means millions are potentially at risk during concerts and shows that use such lighting effects.

We urge lawmakers to mandate at least one concert or show per state to be safe for people with epilepsy by minimizing or eliminating strobe light usage. This small change could make a huge difference in the lives of many, allowing them to participate fully and safely in cultural events.
