Mandate Electronic Ankle Monitoring and Stronger Sentences for Repeat Offenders
Mandate Electronic Ankle Monitoring and Stronger Sentences for Repeat Offenders
The issue
Rural and regional communities across New South Wales are facing an increasing wave of repeat offending, including break-ins, vehicle thefts, trespassing, property crime, intimidation, and violence.
Many of these offences are being committed by the same individuals time and time again. Despite repeated interactions with the justice system, offenders are often released back into the community, only to reoffend within days or weeks.
For those of us living in rural areas, the consequences are severe. Police resources are stretched across vast distances, response times can be longer, and many farming families and small communities are left feeling vulnerable in their own homes.
We are calling on the NSW Government to:
● Mandate electronic ankle monitoring for repeat offenders who are granted bail for serious property, vehicle, violent, or weapon-related offences.
● Introduce tougher sentencing provisions for repeat offenders who continue to commit crimes despite previous convictions.
● Strengthen bail laws for individuals with a demonstrated history of reoffending.
● Prioritise community safety and victim protection, particularly in rural and regional areas where policing resources are limited.
● Increase accountability through real-time monitoring of high-risk offenders.
This petition is not about punishing first-time offenders unfairly. It is about protecting communities from individuals who repeatedly demonstrate a disregard for the law and the safety of others.
Every family deserves to feel safe in their home. Every farmer deserves to know their property is protected. Every regional community deserves a justice system that places community safety at the forefront.
If you believe repeat offenders should face greater accountability and that rural communities deserve better protection, please sign this petition and help us send a clear message to the NSW Government.
Enough is enough.
