As a parent, I've witnessed firsthand how my children struggle with their homework due to the lack of available help at school. Our teachers are overworked and unable to assist every student individually. This is a common issue that affects many families.

We propose that all public high schools be required to provide lunch time and after-school tutoring for all students who need it. This would give them the opportunity to clarify any doubts they may have about their lessons, thereby improving their academic performance.

We also request that all public school libraries extend their hours by two additional hours after school. This will provide a quiet study space for students who may not have access to such an environment at home.

According to the National Education Association (NEA), students who participate in high-quality afterschool programs demonstrate improved behavior and higher grades than those who do not participate. Extended library hours can foster an environment conducive for learning and can significantly impact student success (American Library Association).

Our children's education should never be compromised due to lack of resources or support within our schools. Let's ensure they get the help they need by mandating after-school tutoring and extended library hours in all public high schools nationwide.
