Make the NHS acknowledge Irlens Syndrome

Make the NHS acknowledge Irlens Syndrome
The Issue
Irlen Syndrome is a condition that affects 12-14% of the general population. It is not recognised by the NHS as it has not had a lot of research, so families have to pay privately to have a screening test to see if they have the syndrome. For some families this is just not possible and people are suffering because of the costs.
Irlen syndrome is a problem with the brain's ability to process visual information. For example when reading the words may move around or blur into one another, words may also appear to fall off the page. Take a look at this link to see how it feels for suffers to read, https://youtu.be/FARizLljRkc
Many people who suffer from Irlens syndrome can suffer in different ways, there are a lot of symptons that can be identified as Irlen syndrome. Things that may also be affeced by Irlen Syndrome is: Academic and work performance, Behaviour, Attention, Ability to sit still and Concentration.
More needs to be done to be able to allow people to access screeners for Irlens as it can change lives by being able to get the Irlens Filters, it can change someone's whole outlook on life literally as Irlens does not just affect academically it can also affect how someone see's the physical world outside.
My daughter has Irlen Syndrome and the day that she went to find out what lense tint she needed, she discovered that the worls was still. Tings like gravel on the floor and roof tiles moved for her in the physical world and for 7 years this was normal for her. Less than a week after having her filters she was improving rapidly at school, was able to dress herself more quickly and was able to see the world just like everyone else.
Please help by signing this petition and get the NHS and goverment to acknowledge Irlens Syndrome. This would help all children, teenagers and adults within education settings as well as it would allow them to have extra time in exams which they are currently not allowed as the syndrome is not recognised unlike dyslexia, which may sometimes run alongside.
